For my family there is something special about seeing a music legend take an interest in the next generation of performers. And when that legend is Bobby Bare, a Country Music Hall of Fame member whose career spans more than seven decades, it’s a story worth sharing with music fans. I’ve been able to listen to his music all my life and I love it and can’t wait to share this information with Charlie and David.
Jacob Tolliver has a new single out today, October 23, called “Rad Daddy,” and the song has a pretty special story behind it. Bobby Bare wrote it specifically for Tolliver and co-produced it with longtime Nashville producer and songwriter Buddy Cannon. Isn’t that cool?
What makes this collaboration even more interesting is that both men hail from Southern Ohio. They first met nearly a decade ago at a local fundraiser, and their musical connection grew after Bare heard Tolliver perform “Tequila Sheila” at Bare’s 90th birthday celebration last year. Now, that connection has turned into a new recording that brings together generations of country music and rock ’n’ roll. That’s what I love about music. What about you?
A Song Written Especially for Jacob Tolliver According to the release announcing the single, Bare invited Tolliver to his home to work through the song at the keyboard before bringing Cannon into the project. The recording features Nashville musicians and showcases Tolliver’s piano-driven performance style.
Tolliver said working with Bare and Cannon in the studio was surreal, describing the track as having rock ’n’ roll energy alongside Bare’s familiar tongue-in-cheek attitude. For Tolliver, the collaboration adds another chapter to a career that has already included playing Jerry Lee Lewis in the Las Vegas production of Million Dollar Quartet, touring with Lewis himself, and sharing the stage with Randy Travis.
A Legacy That Keeps Moving Forward– Bobby Bare’s career stretches from his Grammy-winning hit “Detroit City” to the outlaw country movement and his celebrated work with songwriter Shel Silverstein. His collaboration with Tolliver shows how music can create connections between artists at different stages of their careers.
Tolliver, meanwhile, continues to build his reputation as a piano-pounding performer with a love for classic rock ’n’ roll and country music. He was named a 2026 Country Artist to Watch by Country Evolution and Dirt Road Country. “Rad Daddy” arrives as Tolliver continues performing live and building momentum around his original music.
Music has a way of bringing people together, and sometimes a chance meeting can lead to something neither artist could have planned years earlier. For Jacob Tolliver, getting a song written specifically for him by Bobby Bare is an opportunity to work with a country music legend while continuing to develop his own sound.
For fans of country music and piano-driven rock ’n’ roll, “Rad Daddy” offers a new collaboration to discover. Listen to “Rad Daddy” through the official listening link provided in Jacob Tolliver’s release, and visit JacobTolliver.com to learn more about his music and upcoming performances.
