I’m telling you these adventures David and I go on can cause more chaos that you might expect especially when you head into a store you’ve been shopping at forever and a day and no, exactly what you want and where it is. Or is it? Which is what happened the other day when David and I went to Walmart on Beach Street.
I walked into Walmart thinking I was going to pick up one or two things, only I began to wonder if I had accidentally stepped into the Twilight Zone? Well, pull up a chair, Buttercup because David and I have a story to tell! By the time were done you may be peeing in your pants from laughing.
In my area it seems like we have a Walmart on every single corner around our house. Laughing out loud! So David looks at me and says, “Which Walmart do you want to go to? You choose.” Well, as much as I hated to admit it, I told him we could go to the Beach Street Walmart.
What I really wanted was to go to the Rufe Snow Walmart, but I didn’t want to ask David to drive that far. Although, truth be told, it probably wasn’t all that much farther! Boy, was that a decision I would remember and wish I could have taken back by the time we got done shopping.
Let me explain something before we go any further. I wasn’t going to Walmart for an adventure, a sightseeing tour, or an afternoon of exercise walking up and down every aisle. Although, I needed to for the steps I needed to get in. I needed a bra and a Rubbermaid tote for work.
Yes, I said it. A BRA! We’re talking about unmentionables, folks, and I don’t care who knows it. I’m screaming it from the rooftops! You see, Sandy had decided that one of my bras would make an excellent chew toy. And apparently, she didn’t care one bit that I still needed it. LOL
So there I was, needing a replacement, and off David and I went. How hard could finding a bra possibly be? Apparently, harder than rocket science! Although, I had left Charlie at home even though he said he would go because shopping for a bra with your husband is bad enough but with your son no, bueno for me.
Even though The Beach Street Walmart has been redone, I didn’t think finding what we needed would be that hard but let me tell you, the changes have left me scratching my head. Even my mother-in-law doesn’t care for the way the store is laid out now. Nor David or my sister.
We walked in, and everything I needed seemed to take ten times longer to find. I honestly felt like I needed a map and a tour guide just to get through the front door! And the bra? Oh, my goodness. It took us about 30 minutes to even find the section they would be in.
Thirty minutes to find a bra! Then, just when I thought I was ready to leave, I’d remember something else I needed. A tote, for example. But the place where I remembered seeing it wasn’t where it was supposed to be anymore. So off we went again. It wasn’t over here. It wasn’t over there. And it certainly wasn’t where I thought it should be.
Lord only knows where everything has gone! By that point, I was beginning to think Alice in Wonderland and the White Rabbit might have to come rescue us. We’d fallen so far down the rabbit hole that I wasn’t sure we’d ever find our way back out. I’m glad Charlie was at home because I was thinking he might need to send out a search party to find us.
Looking back, I have to wonder if I should have brought Dolly Parton and Rosie the Riveter with me. Can you imagine? Dolly could have kept me company with her stories while we wandered through the aisles. Rosie could have rolled up her sleeves and helped us tackle the shelves.
Of course, after 30 minutes of hunting for a bra and another round of searching for a tote, I suspect even those two ladies might have thrown up their hands and run screaming from the store! And honestly, I wouldn’t have blamed them one bit. Now, I can see why women used to burn there bra because after shopping Walmart I was ready to give up on ever finding a bra.
Sometimes a woman just needs a little laughter to get through an ordinary day that has turned into anything but ordinary. For my family what started as a simple shopping trip has turned into a whole collection of stories for Greatful Moments. Because around here, even an errand can turn into a story worth sharing Buttercup.
Over the next seven articles, we’ll talk about the bra that started this adventure, share some laughs about shopping and everyday life, and explore those moments when a woman needs a little encouragement, a little determination, or simply a place to sit down and catch her breath.
We’ll also talk about the comfort of a good front-porch moment and the kind of love that shows up in unexpected places—including when your husband helps you shop for something you might usually consider an unmentionable! LOL Pull up a chair BUTTERCUP and your favorite beverage because this is going to be one bumpy ride.
And yes, we’ll take a closer look at the bra itself in its own review. After all, if it took 30 minutes to find the thing, we might as well tell you whether it was worth the hunt! So, grab yourself a cup of coffee, settle in, and come along for the ride. Men are welcome to even though they might not want to hear about bras.
Here at Greatful Moments, we believe in finding reasons to laugh, sharing the stories that make us who we are, and remembering that even when a day doesn’t go according to plan, there is still something to be grateful for. Grateful, Thankful, and Blessed—even when Walmart makes you feel like you’ve entered the Twilight Zone!
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I think I’ll sit on the front porch for a spell. After that shopping trip, I might need Dolly’s stories, Rosie’s determination, and a little peace and quiet. And Sandy? We’re going to have a little talk about chewing on things that don’t belong to her! Not, that it will do any good. Just ask Charlie about his shoes. LOL
