If your like me you have shows ie series you watch and when they go on hiatus it drives you crazy because more times than not they leave us with a Cliffhanger like back in the day with Dallas. I am excited that this evening a lot of my shows is returning to Paramount+ but I haven’t been paying for it because we hadn’t been using it. Now, I have to ask David if I can pay it this week or if I need to wait next week and catch up on my movies then. If I do no, one and I mean no, one better tell me what happens or my shoes or I will be one mad camper and I’m not going to speak to you at all.
In my family there are some things in life that stay with us forever. Sometimes it’s a song, a smell, a television show, or something as simple as knowing Friday night has arrived and you finally have a little time to yourself. For me, some of those memories take me right back to Suzanne.
Back in the day, Suzanne and I had our TGIF Fridays. We would settle in and watch our favorite shows, and those evenings became part of our family memories. Charlie likes to remind me that all of this happened back before the dinosaurs roamed the face of the earth. LOL!
Well, Charlie, your mama remembers those days just fine! Not only that you and I have our own movie nights and tv shows we couldn’t and wouldn’t miss when you was growing up. Dad not so much because he was always working but he would make the time to take us to
Suzanne isn’t here for me to share those Friday nights with anymore, but I still carry those memories with me. I believe we can honor the people we love by remembering the little things we enjoyed together, even as life changes and we find new things to look forward to the movies we wanted to see no, matter how tired he might be.
And today, Friday, October 9, 2026, I’m making plans for a night of my own. Mom’s Movie Plans: Paramount+ Pizza, Popcorn & Chocolate. Or should I wait and binge watch the movies on Tuesday when Bosses Pizza is $12 and I could do a Cheeseburger Pizza and watch my movies?
I’ve been looking forward to several television shows returning, and tonight gives me another reason to get comfortable and enjoy my evening. Although, since the shows premier tonight I may not be able to watch them on Paramount+ until tomorrow night and that is okay because Charlie wants to go look at #Halloween decorations tonight.
Your welcome to come and watch Fire Country and see Bodie then I will watch Sheriff Country and Boston Blue , and I’m looking forward to catching up on Tracker. I also want to see what’s happening with Landman, Matlock, Heartland, Elsbeth, and when it comes back Hudson & Rex. There are so many shows I want to watch that I sometimes wonder how anybody keeps up with all of them! But then again some of them will not be on until God only knows when and that helps.
Some shows are returning now, some are waiting for their next season, and others are waiting on me to catch up. That’s what happens when you love television but have a whole life to live outside of it, too. Does this happen for you as well or are you someone who doesn’t watch TV?
The new season of Sheriff Country premieres October 9, followed by Fire Country and Boston Blue. Paramount+ also has Avatar: Seven Havens arriving today David would like. The new CBS episodes are available for streaming according to the service’s plan and release schedule, so I’ll be checking my Paramount+ app for what I can watch tonight.
You can check the official Paramount+ October lineup to see what’s arriving this month. And no, I’m not planning to spend my Friday night trying to figure out how to watch traditional television. I stream my shows, and I use the actual streaming apps. That’s what works for me!
My perfect Friday Night starts with getting comfortable and purchasing extra snacks for anyone who decides to join me for movie night. I have a plan, and it doesn’t require going anywhere fancy. First, we’re having Spaghetti David said he would make. Then I’m gathering my popcorn, and popcorn butter, Chocolate Assorted Candy Variety Pack, Bulk, 5 lb, and a gallon of Milo’s Sweet Tea.
I’ll probably have my Sonic Dr Pepper or stop at QT Cherry Dr Pepper, because some things are just part of my routine. Once I have my snacks ready, I’m heading to my bed, getting comfortable, and enjoying my shows. And before anybody asks, this is MY night! Everybody already knows. LOL! There is no, talking to mom I’m off duty David is in charge. LORD, helps us all or Charlie may take over all I know is it isn’t me.
I’m not planning to entertain anybody or turn my evening into a list of chores. I want to enjoy the things I like, remember Suzanne, and have a little time to relax. That sounds like a pretty good Friday night to me. Since I’m already talking about my plans, I thought this would be a fun time to share a few things that help make a night at home more comfortable. These are the kinds of items I’d look for when putting together a cozy television-watching setup.
Cute, Lightweight Pajamas– I want something girly and cute, preferably movie themed. I’m not looking for heavy winter pajamas because I don’t want to get hot while I’m trying to relax. Delerain Women’s Pajama Pants With Pockets, Casual Loose Lounge Pants Drawstring Elastic Waist Wide Leg Pjs Bottoms for Womenwould be perfect for a night spent watching television in bed.
What’s a television night without something sweet? I may make Cookies or Brownies but I also I like the idea of having a bag of assorted Chocolate Assorted Candy Variety Pack, Bulk, 5 lb nearby so I can choose whichever one sounds good at the moment. Sometimes you want chocolate, and sometimes you want a different kind of chocolate. Having a variety makes it easy.
I have a pink pillow with bows on it that has arms on the sides. It’s great for leaning back against the bed while watching television or using my tablet. Because it also has Butterflies not only did it remind me of Suzzane but my mother in law and Breast Cancer which is celebrated in October.
David got the pillow for me at Burlington to use for work but it also works for movie night. If you’ve ever tried to get comfortable in bed while watching a long show, you understand why having a good backrest matters. I like being able to settle in without constantly rearranging all my pillows.
A cozy movie themed blanket is another item that belongs on a movie-night wish list. I thought of something cute and feminine, perhaps with popcorn, movie-themed designs, or pink details. It doesn’t have to be a heavy blanket. I want something comfortable to pull over myself while I enjoy my shows. But then I found the blanket I shared with you and it was perfect not only for me but for my best friend Debbie as well.
David has my room all clean and its the perfect place to work and watch movie but because I want people to know I’m as serious about my shows as I am my work I’d love a cute sign behind my bed that celebrates movie night. Something like Movie Night Is My Night! or Popcorn, Pajamas & Premieres would be fun.
And then there’s the door. I’m thinking about a sign that says: DO NOT ENTER — MOVIES PLAYING! Or perhaps: Mama’s Movie Night. Come Back Tomorrow! Sometimes a little humor says everything that needs to be said. Everybody in the house already knows the rules, but a cute sign would make me smile.
I already have three or four tablet stands, so I don’t need to buy another one. But they are useful, and I know other people might appreciate having one. I can prop my tablet up beside me if I want to work on Swagbucks during commercials or check something online while watching television.
I’ve been working on earning Swagbucks, and every little bit helps toward my gift-card goals. I don’t have to make a separate trip to my office every time I want to check something, either. Sometimes I can get a few things done while still enjoying the evening. Of course, I also have my phone, which fits on my tablet setup. I don’t need to buy a new phone or another tablet stand just because I’m writing about a cozy night in. I’m sharing what I already use and what might be helpful to someone else.
That’s part of what I like about writing these posts. We can share ideas without pretending we need to purchase every single thing we mention. I have to include Milo’s Sweet Tea because it belongs in my Friday-night plans. I’ll pick up my gallon and have it ready for the evening. Then there’s my Sonic Dr Pepper or the cherry Dr Pepper from QT.
These aren’t things I need to order from Amazon. They’re part of my regular routine, and sometimes the simplest things are the ones we enjoy the most. Pizza, popcorn, chocolate, sweet tea, and a few favorite shows sound like a pretty good combination to me.
When I think about those old TGIF Fridays, I don’t just think about the television shows. I think about the time Suzanne and I spent together. Life keeps moving, and our routines change. The shows we watch today aren’t necessarily the shows we watched years ago.
The world of streaming has given us more choices than I could ever keep track of, and sometimes I need a list just to remember what I’m waiting to watch but that can lead to new shows to watch as well. For me the feeling of looking forward to a Friday night hasn’t changed all that much.
I can still look forward to pizza, a favorite show, a comfortable place to sit, and a little time to myself. I can still smile when something reminds me of Suzanne. And I can still be thankful for the memories we made together. Charlie may say our TGIF days were back when dinosaurs walked the earth, but those memories are still part of my life today.
Suzanne, I wish I could share one more Friday night with you. Until then, I’ll keep those memories close and be thankful for every moment we had. Tonight, I’m going to enjoy my Spaghetti, my popcorn, my chocolate, and my shows. I’m going to get comfortable, close my door, and enjoy my evening. Because sometimes the best plans are the simple ones.
