National LED Light Day: I Think I Need Some Lights for My Desk

Today is National LED Light Day, and those lights remind me sometimes of the lights from the ’70s—the black lights and things we grew up with as kids. I don’t even know if children nowadays know what a black light is! That even includes Charlie so this might become a #teachingmoment for my family.

But then I think about Charlie’s room. Charlie has LED lights in his room, and I actually enjoy going in there and seeing them change all the different colors. My favorite is when they’re that purple-ish pink color. Not only that there around his computer and at one time in his car.

I’ve seen other people put LED lights in their cars. I’ve seen them around desks, behind televisions, and all kinds of places. And one day, I plan on purchasing my own set and putting them around my desk. I just haven’t decided what color I want. I’m getting rid of the pink desk, so maybe I should get the pinkish-purple ones for my new desk.

If Suzanne was here, she’d definitely say pink. And Charlie probably would, too. But then I started thinking… What about a pretty sky light blue? That would be something different. I hadn’t really thought about that before. No purple. I’m sure every Tom, Dick, and Harry has purple and pink. I want something different.

Rainbow lights would be pretty cool, I think. And that’s where I need your help! What about you? Where is your favorite place to purchase LED lights, and why? I’ve always gotten Charlie’s at Walmart. I’ve seen them at Big Lots, too, but unfortunately, Big Lots had to close its doors. They didn’t even ask me. They just did it. And man, oh man, do I miss Big Lots!

I’m sure I could go on Amazon and find all kinds of LED lights, but I like to see things in person. I like being able to look at them and decide if I actually like them before I bring them home. So now I have another question. How many feet of LED lights do you think I need for my desk? And should I use one strand or two?

Are they going to be flashing and changing colors all the time? Because I’m also wondering if those lights going off and on are going to give me a headache. And can I hook them up to play music? See? I must be a complete novice when it comes to LED lights! I’m going to have to have a lot of teaching.

As you can see, I’m old school, and I don’t know nothing about LED lights. Although my son is right over in the room next door, and he could probably tell me anything and everything I want to know about them. He used to teach Mom all kinds of things when he was little. But he’s growing up now. And sometimes Mom doesn’t get a lesson just because she asks for one. Sometimes he has his own things going on, and that’s okay.

That’s part of watching your children grow up. You spend all those years teaching them, helping them, answering their questions, and then one day you realize they’re the ones who know things you don’t know. So I guess I’ll figure it out on my own. And if I don’t… It just wasn’t the Lord’s will.

But I’m still thinking about those rainbow lights. What do you think? Where’s your favorite place to buy LED lights, what color would you choose for my desk, and how many feet do you think I need?
