Living in this Townhome can be hard sometimes because I miss our garden tub that I could get in and out of and soak in and not worry about getting stuck. But here at Appian Way the bathtub is so narrow I’ve afraid to use it but that allows me to use the shower more which helps my shoulder.

Because of that I’ve noticed the little things that can turn an ordinary day into something a little more relaxing. For me, that can be as simple as taking a shower and adding a little lavender. I love aromatherapy, and I thought shower steamers would be a fun way to add some of those scents to our everyday routine. There was just one thing I was a little concerned about. The scent is strong. And I mean strong. Because I know that strong fragrances can sometimes bother me, I was honestly a little nervous that the scent might give me trouble breathing or leave me with a headache.

Thankfully, that wasn’t what happened. Neither Charlie nor I had trouble breathing while using them, and neither of us ended up with a headache. The scent is definitely noticeable, but for us, that was part of what made the shower steamers enjoyable and more fun to check out.

That’s a pretty nice variety, especially when you have several people in the family with very different ideas about what smells good. And yes, we each found a favorite. I love it when a product review becomes a family affair because everybody notices something different.

Let’s start with the obvious one. Lavender is my favorite. If you’ve been around Greatful Moments for very long, that probably isn’t a surprise. I love lavender, and it is one of those scents I naturally reach for when I want something relaxing. Since I already use essential oils for different things around our home, I especially like that these shower steamers use essential oils. There is something nice about turning an ordinary shower into a few minutes where I can simply enjoy the scent and relax.

Charlie surprised me a little with his favorite. He really liked the cocoa & orange shower steamer. But anyone who knows Charlie knows he loves Coffee & Cocoa so this shouldn’t be a surprise. What he liked most was that the orange wasn’t overpowering the cocoa.

Instead, the two scents worked together to create what he described as a soothing scent. I thought that was a pretty good description because sometimes when you see orange paired with another scent, you expect the citrus to take over. That wasn’t his experience with this one.

Then there was David. David also liked the cocoa & orange, which actually surprised me. But if he had to choose one for himself, he said he would pick the ginger & orange. He liked the way those two scents smelled together. So if we were dividing up the package in our house, I’d be taking the lavender, Charlie would get the cocoa & orange, and David would be reaching for the ginger & orange. And somebody would have to fight us for the grapefruit!

The Scent Is Strong — But That Wasn’t a Problem for Us: I want to talk about this because I think it is important when you’re considering any type of aromatherapy product. Cleverfy Shower Steamers have a strong scent. If you want something very lightly scented, these may be stronger than what you’re looking for.

But I was actually pleasantly surprised by how well they worked for us. I was worried that such a strong scent might bother my breathing. I was also concerned that I might end up with a headache. That didn’t happen. Charlie and I were both able to use them without having those problems.

The very first time I used one, I was cautious and left the shower curtain open just a little. I wanted to make sure I wasn’t going to have a problem before completely closing myself into a shower filled with the fragrance. Once I knew the scent wasn’t bothering me, I was comfortable enjoying the shower with the curtain closed. Of course, everyone’s sensitivity to fragrances and essential oils is different, so always pay attention to the manufacturer’s warnings and your own body’s response.

There is a little trick to using shower steamers correctly. You don’t want to put the tablet directly underneath the strongest stream of water. And you definitely don’t want to completely submerge it. Instead, place the shower steamer somewhere that gets a light stream of water.

We put ours toward the side or back of the shower, where the water could reach it without pounding directly onto it. Using it toward the end of the shower worked well for us, too. The idea is to let the water gradually activate the tablet so the scent is released into the air instead of having the entire tablet disappear immediately.

Think of it this way: Light stream of water = YES Completely submerged = NO

The shower steamer also stays where you put it, so you don’t have to worry about it floating around the shower and becoming something you could accidentally step on.

These aren’t Bath Bombs and his is an important reminder because shower steamers can look a lot like bath products. Don’t put these in your bath, and don’t put them directly on your skin. Because of the concentration of essential and fragrance oils, they are intended for use in the shower rather than directly on your body. We also rinse the shower area after using them.

• Do not apply shower steamers directly to your skin.
• Do not completely submerge the tablet.
• Place the tablet under a light stream of water.
• Rinse the shower area after use.
• Do not use the product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.

• If you need to remove a partially used steamer, do not pick it up with bare skin. We used a washcloth.

Charlie enjoyed them, too, and we both found scents that we liked. David even found one that he would choose for himself. And I love that they’re vegan and cruelty-free.
