Halloween is one of those times of year when my families loves finding fun, creative ways to celebrate as a family. Whether you’re putting together a Halloween costume, decorating your home, planning a party, or looking for something fun to add to your homeschool activities, Hello Kawaii! Halloween: A Book of Scary Temporary Tattoos, illustrated by Kidnichols, offers plenty of ways to get into the Halloween spirit.

This paperback book is filled with more than 100 colorful temporary tattoos featuring adorable Halloween characters, spooky surprises, candy, ghosts, bats, vampires, pumpkins, and so much more. This book is a lot of fun for children of all ages and adults as well.

When I first received Hello Kawaii! Halloween, I was surprised by how cute the cover was. The book has a sturdy, cardboard-like feel, and the cover is so adorable that you could even leave it sitting upright as part of your Halloween decorations. The cover features a flashlight, a candle, a lollipop ghost, a mushroom that David would have liked, a black cat with a witch’s hat, candy, and a skeleton that Charlie would enjoy. There are so many little details that you can spend time looking at everything before you even open the book.

Once you start flipping through the pages, you’ll discover even more Halloween surprises. There are pieces of candy, cute and spooky designs, and even candy conversation hearts with words like “Witch” and “Boo.” These reminded me of the conversation hearts we see around Valentine’s Day, and they could even be a fun #teachingmopment to introduce younger children to different kinds of candy and how holiday traditions have changed over the years.

David recently finished a whole bowl of candy corn, and I didn’t even realize he liked it that much! So, naturally, when I spotted the candy corn designs in this book, I thought about making him a temporary tattoo. You’ll also find funny, scary eyes, a coffin where a mummy might live, haunted houses, worms, and the words “Hocus Pocus,” which reminded me of one of our favorite Halloween movies.

As you continue flipping through the pages, you’ll discover even more spooky and silly designs, including trick-or-treating and “Boo” themes. There are so many different designs that everyone in the family can find something they enjoy. From the skeleton Charlie would like to the mushroom David would appreciate, there are little details that make this book fun to explore.

One thing I love about products like this is finding ways to use them beyond what they were originally intended for. Of course, these temporary tattoos would be fun to wear for Halloween parties, trick-or-treating, or while dressing up in your favorite costume. But what if you don’t want to wear all the designs?

Some of the words and pictures could inspire homemade Halloween decorations. You could use the spooky lettering, ghosts, candy, and other designs as inspiration for decorating your home, creating Halloween-themed crafts, or putting together a seasonal display.

For families who homeschool, the candy conversation hearts could also be a starting point for a lesson about words, reading, holiday traditions, or even creative writing. Children could choose a design and write a silly Halloween story around it, or use the pictures to create their own spooky adventure.

As always, parents should follow the product’s instructions for applying and removing the temporary tattoos and check the packaging for age guidance and ingredient information. Which for Charlie being older would be a teaching lesson as he could share the #stickers with my nieces and nephews and would have to make sure they are old enough to use them.

Hello Kawaii! Halloween: A Book of Scary Temporary Tattoos is a cute, colorful way to add a little extra fun to Halloween. With more than 100 temporary tattoos to explore, there are plenty of designs to enjoy, whether you’re getting ready for a Halloween party, putting together a costume, or simply looking for something fun to do during Spooky Season.

I especially like how adorable the cover is and how many different designs are tucked inside. I can see this being something families enjoy looking through together, choosing their favorite tattoos, and coming up with creative ways to use the designs. Sometimes the best part of a product is thinking outside the box and finding new ways to enjoy it. This book offers plenty of opportunities to do just that. If you’re looking for a cute Halloween-themed activity or a little something to add to a Halloween gift basket, this is a fun book to consider.
