LISTERINE COOL MINT Alcohol-Free Mild Mouthwash is a less-intense, alcohol-free mouthwash with a refreshing Cool Mint flavor. The product information says it kills 99.9% of bad-breath germs and leaves your mouth feeling clean and refreshed. It is designed to be used as part of your regular oral hygiene routine.
The bottle I purchased is the smaller 250 mL size, and it has the Drug Facts information on the back as well as a QR code. One of the little things I really like about the bottle is that the cap doubles as the measuring cup. You don’t have to find something else to measure your mouthwash. Just pour it into the cap and you’re ready to go.
This product actually brought back a childhood memory for me. My parents used LISTERINE when I was growing up. But I’m talking about the true-blue, brown LISTERINE that would burn your mouth! You know the kind. The one most of us children hated.
You put it in your mouth and immediately wondered how something that was supposed to make your mouth feel clean could make your mouth feel like it was on fire. It was hot. It was strong. And it had that very noticeable alcohol taste. So when I started using this Alcohol-Free Mild Cool Mint version, I was pleasantly surprised.
I really like this mouthwash because it doesn’t have that burning sensation I remember from the LISTERINE my parents used. It doesn’t have that strong alcoholic taste, either. Instead, it has a milder mint flavor and leaves my mouth feeling clean and fresh. And that’s what I want from my mouthwash.
I want that fresh feeling without feeling like I’ve just gargled something that could strip paint off the walls! This isn’t just something I purchased for a review and then put in the bathroom cabinet. David uses it. Charlie uses it. And I use it. Bradley does to at times.
We keep it in our downstairs bathroom, so it’s something our family actually reaches for. That’s one of the things I enjoy most about writing product reviews. I get to tell you about things we’re really using in our home and where we keep it at and why we keep it there.
The word “mild” might make you think this won’t give you that fresh mouth feeling. I don’t find that to be the case. It still has that Cool Mint flavor and leaves my mouth feeling clean and refreshed. The difference is that it isn’t overwhelmingly strong. For me, that’s a good thing.
I don’t need my mouthwash to hurt and to burn. I just want my mouth to feel fresh and clean when I’m finished. The bottle is simple, but it has some convenient features. There is a QR code on the bottle, the Drug Facts are clearly listed on the back, and the cap is designed to be used as the measuring cup.
According to the product directions, the recommended amount is 20 mL for 30 seconds twice a day as part of a regular oral hygiene routine. Always follow the directions on the product you purchase. You know me. I’m always going to look at prices for anything I purchase.
When I checked, I found this mouthwash for around $8.98 at Amazon and Walmart. Walgreens was around $9.49. That’s not a huge difference. But then I saw it for around $8.98 through Instacart and $15.99 through DoorDash. Ooh! That’s quite a difference. Being that high I would never purchase it from Door Dash. Would you?
I never thought I’d see that much of a difference for the same type of mouthwash. So before you purchase, take a minute and compare prices. If you’re already ordering other things through a delivery service, convenience may be worth it to you. But if you’re simply buying a bottle of mouthwash, it definitely pays to see what other stores are charging. Prices can change, so check the current price before purchasing.
For me, this is one of those everyday products that doesn’t need to be complicated.
I want something that:
- Leaves my mouth feeling fresh and clean
- Helps fight bad-breath germs
- Doesn’t have an intense alcohol taste
- Doesn’t give me that burning sensation
- Is easy to measure and use
- Can be used by our family
And this LISTERINE Cool Mint Moutwash checks those boxes for us. I also like that it is alcohol-free and has a less-intense mint flavor. It’s funny how products can bring back memories. When I was little, LISTERINE meant that strong brown mouthwash my parents used.
Today, LISTERINE in our house means something quite different. It’s the Cool Mint Alcohol-Free Mild version sitting in our downstairs bathroom, with David, Charlie, and me all using it. And instead of wondering if my mouth is going to survive the rinse, I’m thinking about how clean and fresh it feels afterward. That’s a change I can definitely get behind.
