Welcome to September. I hope August treated you well. May September fulfil all your dreams. As we move into the new month I wanted to bring you our Interactive Fall Gift Guide — Day 1: Welcome to Fall!

It’s September, which means it’s time to start something new this year as were not only bringing you a Halloween Gift Guide but a Fall or Harvest Gift Guide for those who don’t celebrate Halloween. If you do you can find our Halloween Gift Guide here.

But this isn’t just a gift guide where I show you things you can buy. We’re going to turn our Fall Gift Guide into a family challenge. Because I believe fall should be about more than shopping. It should be about making memories.

This year we’ve started incorporating little activities into our seasonal guides, and the idea was simple: children could participate in the activities, earn tickets, and work toward a special reward at the end of the challenge.

🍂 How the Fall Challenge Works

Each time your child completes one of our Fall activities, they can earn: 1 ticket for completing the activity. 1 additional ticket for rating or reviewing the activity. Then a 3 ticket if they spend at least 10 minutes reading something each day.

That means your child can earn up to three tickets for each activity. And our activities won’t all be the same. One day we might have a coloring page. Another day might be a craft.

We might have a recipe. A family activity. A scavenger hunt. A reading activity. A game. Something to do outside. Something to do together. Or something as simple as making a little fall decoration for the house.

And for reading each day which is one of our activities, your child can earn a ticket for completing the reading activity and another ticket for rating or reviewing the activity we did afterward.

The fun part of the challenge is you can choose which part you want to do each day. If you only want to do the activity that is fine. Or if you want to do 2 of the challenge but not all three that is fine. Or you can do all three of the challenges.

We’re not making this about how much money you spend. In fact, you don’t have to spend any money at all. That’s one of my favorite parts. At the end of the Fall Challenge, Mom and Dad—or another parent or caregiver—get to choose a special reward for their child.

Greatful Moments isn’t providing the prize. You are. And it doesn’t have to be something you buy. Your child’s reward could be: A family movie night. Making cookies together. Letting them choose what’s for dinner.

From having hot chocolate or apple cider because it’s fall. Going for a walk. Playing their favorite game together. Staying up a little later. Going outside and looking at the stars. Raking leaves together. Taking a special family outing.

Letting them choose the family activity for the day. Or simply spending some one-on-one time doing something they love. Because the real reward isn’t necessarily something that comes in a package. It’s the memory you make together. And that’s what I want our Fall Challenge to be about.

🍁 Today’s Activity: Welcome Fall!

We’re starting simple. Today’s free activity is a Welcome Fall coloring sign. Your child can color it, decorate it, add their own drawings, write what they love about fall, and then hang it somewhere in your home.

Maybe it goes on the refrigerator. Maybe it goes on their bedroom door. Maybe it becomes part of your fall decorations. Maybe you put it beside your front door. There is no wrong way to do it. And when your child finishes? They earn 1 ticket for completing today’s activity.

Then have them tell you what they thought about it. Did they enjoy coloring it? Was it easy? Would they do another activity like this? What would they change? Give it a rating or let them write a little review. That earns 1 more ticket.

That’s it. Three possible tickets for Day 1. If they read for at least 10 minutes. And don’t forget to keep track of those tickets! You can use a jar, a basket, an envelope, a little box, or whatever works for your family. Earlier we had you create a Ticket Jar if you missed it you can find the post here.

At the end of our Fall Challenge, you’ll know exactly how many tickets your child earned—and then you get to turn those tickets into a special family reward. We’re going to keep adding activities throughout the fall, so keep checking back.

And remember: This isn’t about winning a prize. It’s about giving our children something to look forward to. It’s about doing things together. It’s about reading. Creating. Playing. Cooking. Exploring. Laughing. And making memories that will last much longer than anything we could buy at a store.

So let’s get started. Print the Welcome Fall activity. Color it. Decorate it. Hang it up. Then rate it. And don’t forget to add those tickets to your family’s Fall Challenge jar! Welcome, Fall. We’re so glad you’re here.
