If you haven’t been following our “What If I Was…?” series, you may not know how this works. I ask ChatGPT: “If this person—or, in this case, this dog—were a Winnie the Pooh character, who would they be and why?”

ChatGPT makes its choice based on everything it knows about our family. Then I get to respond. Sometimes I agree and sometimes I have a completely different answer. And sometimes ChatGPT gets it exactly right.

But we’re not the only ones making the decisions. After each family member, we’re asking you: Was ChatGPT right? Was Glenda right? Or is there another Winnie the Pooh character who fits them better? No, answer is right or wrong and what is asked here stays here just like in Las Vegas.

As I said earlier we’ve already visited David, Glenda, Charlie, and Suzanne in Part A, and Gerald, Debbie, and Renee in Part B. Now it’s time for the members of our family who have four legs. Then be watching for the last part our Family.

Part C: Bear Bear, Phoebe, Sandy & Gunner and it’s only right we begin this question with Bear because she is Charlie’s dog and we’ve had her the longest. Then we ask about my dog Pheobie then Sandy and end with Gunner who goes home this week.

Bear Bear: ChatGPT said: “If Bear Bear were a Winnie the Pooh character, who would he be and why?” ChatGPT’s Answer: was Winnie the Pooh because Bear Bear has that sweet, loving, comforting presence that makes people feel safe.

Pooh doesn’t need to be in charge. He simply wants to be around the people he loves. He’s loyal and he’s gentle. And he’s happiest when he’s included. That’s Bear Bear. He’s a family dog. He’s loving and he’s comforting.

And there’s something about him that just feels like home. He’s the dog who makes you want to sit beside him, give him a hug, and enjoy having him nearby. So my answer is: Bear Bear is Winnie the Pooh.

Glenda’s Thoughts: You know what? I can see it. Bear Bear absolutely could be Winnie the Pooh. He is sweet, he’s loving and he’s comforting. He doesn’t need to be in charge. He wants to be around the people he loves.

He’s loyal and he’s gentle. And yes, he absolutely feels like home. But if I were choosing a Winnie the Pooh character for Bear Bear, I might flip it around. I would choose: Christopher Robin.

Glenda’s Thoughts: Bear Bear is Charlie’s very best friend on the face of the earth. He takes care of Charlie and he’s protective of him and he keeps him in line. And when we’re walking, Bear Bear doesn’t walk ahead.

He stays right beside us. He’s watching. and he’s paying attention. He knows what’s going on. And he doesn’t have to be making noise to know what’s happening and he speaks only when spoken to, but somehow he still knows everything that’s going on around him.

That’s Christopher Robin to me. So while I completely understand why ChatGPT chose Winnie the Pooh, I’m going with: Bear Bear = Christopher Robin. With a little bit of Pooh mixed in.

Phoebe: I Asked ChatGPT: “If Phoebe were a Winnie the Pooh character, who would she be and why?” ChatGPT’s Answer: Piglet and Phoebe feels different from Bear Bear. It see’s Piglet in her because Piglet is smaller, more sensitive, a little cautious, and has his own way of reacting to the world.

Piglet can be brave, but he’s not necessarily charging into every situation. He’s more likely to stop, think about it, and decide whether he’s comfortable. I think Phoebe has that same quality. She’s part of the family, but she has her own little personality and her own way of doing things. So my answer is: Phoebe is Piglet.

Glenda’s Thoughts: Well, that’s funny because Piglet was my nephew when we were growing up. But I can see why ChatGPT picked Piglet for Phoebe. She is smaller and she’s sensitive and she’s cautious. And she definitely has her own way of reacting to the world.

Piglet can be brave, and Phoebe can be brave too. But she’s also more skittish. I have always wondered if somebody hurt her before we adopted her because she can be so cautious about people and situations.

And that part about Piglet being more likely to stop, think about something, and decide whether he’s comfortable? That’s Phoebe to a T. She absolutely does that and she has her own little personality.

But if I were going to choose a character for Phoebe, I would choose: Roo and is tiny and Roo is quiet but Roo is strong in his own little way. And Roo is his own person. Roo can hide inside Kanga’s pocket.

My thoughts: And Phoebe? She hides behind my feet. She hides under my desk while I’m working. She doesn’t want you to bother her. She won’t go somewhere she hasn’t been asked to go.

Most of the time, she stays inside unless I call her name. And when Mom says something? She knows it better be done. Because I’m Mom. So I can see Piglet. But when I picture Phoebe in the Hundred Acre Wood, I see: Roo.

What Do You Think? Who is Phoebe? Piglet? Roo? Or somebody else? Was ChatGPT right? Was Glenda right? Tell us which character you think fits our little Phoebe!

Sandy: I Asked ChatGPT: “If Sandy were a Winnie the Pooh character, who would she be and why?” ChatGPT’s Answer: Tigger Okay. This one seems almost too easy. If you know anything about Sandy or Tigger I’m sure you can see why ChatGPT’s answer fits her to a T.

Sandy is Tigger because Sandy bounces. She has opinions. She’s energetic and she’s stubborn. She makes herself known. And she doesn’t exactly wait around for somebody to invite her to the party.

Tigger has that same: “I’m here, and you’re going to know it!” energy. But there’s another reason this choice feels especially meaningful. Sandy reminds you of Suzanne. And Suzanne was Tigger.

So Sandy being Tigger isn’t just about being energetic. There’s an emotional connection there, too. It’s almost as though a little piece of that Tigger energy showed up again in Sandy. So ChatGPT’s answer is: Sandy is Tigger.

Glenda’s Thoughts: Well… I picked Tigger, too. Without a doubt. Sandy bounces and she has opinions without a doubt she is energetic. She’s stubborn. And she absolutely makes herself known.

She doesn’t wait around for anybody to invite her to the party. She’s here and you’re going to know it. She’s a puppy who is only about four to six months old. And she has puppy energy coming out of every inch of her.

She doesn’t stop, she bounces, she jumps, she gives hugs and she gives kisses but more than that she speaks loudly. And the word “no”? I’m pretty sure Sandy has never heard it. And I’m pretty sure she’s never going to learn it. Just like a 2 year old…

But she’s still a puppy, so we have to give her a little grace. Or do we Charlie says. Underneath this bouncing, jumping, noise, and puppy chaos is one of the kindest and most caring dogs I’ve ever known.

And then there’s the connection to Suzanne. Sandy reminds me of Suzanne because Suzanne was Tigger. So even though ChatGPT and I agree completely on this one, Tigger means a little more to me than simply being the bouncy character. It feels like a little connection. A little reminder and a little piece of Suzanne. So yes: Sandy is Tigger without a doubt.

Gunner: I Asked ChatGPT: “If Gunner were a Winnie the Pooh character, who would he be and why?” ChatGPT’s Answer: Roo because he is playful, curious, affectionate, adventurous, and ready to be included in whatever everyone else is doing.

There’s a youthful quality to Roo. He’s the character who wants to be part of the adventure. And that’s what I see in Gunner. He’s curious and he’s playful. He’s affectionate and he’s ready to join whatever is happening. So ChatGPTs’s answer is: Gunner is Roo.

Glenda’s Thoughts: No. No, no, no. That’s not Gunner. Gunner stays completely to himself. He doesn’t talk to anybody. He doesn’t come off his blanket unless he needs to go to the restroom.

And then he waits for me to take him. He’s not looking for the adventure and he’s not trying to be included in everything. He’s perfectly happy staying on his blanket. But he is kind. He’s caring and he wants to be hugged on and loved all the time.

Glenda’s Thoughts: Owl. Again. Because Gunner is quiet. He keeps to himself and he sleeps a lot. He doesn’t need to be involved in everything. And honestly, I think sometimes he sleeps because he’s bored.

He really needs to get outside and run off some of that energy. And that’s where things get interesting. Because I think Gunner may actually be two characters. Inside? Owl. Quiet, sleepy and private. Happy on his blanket.

But if you let Gunner outside? Tigger because I think he would run and run and run. He’d play and he’d chase the ball. And he’d probably play with that ball for the next hundred years. So maybe Gunner isn’t Roo after all. Maybe he’s: Owl inside. Tigger outside. And honestly, I kind of love that.

Now, Part C Comes to an End and there you have it. We’ve now added the four-legged members of our Hundred Acre Wood: Bear Bear — Winnie the Pooh or Christopher Robin, Phoebe — Piglet or Roo, Sandy — Tigger, Gunner — Roo, Owl, or maybe Tigger when he gets outside

And once again, this little game has turned out to be about more than matching personalities to cartoon characters. It’s brought up memories. It’s reminded me of Suzanne.

It’s made me laugh. And it’s made me look at our dogs in ways I hadn’t thought about before. Maybe that’s what I love most about this “What If I Was…?” series. Sometimes the answer is obvious. Sometimes it’s not. Sometimes ChatGPT sees one side of someone, while I see another.

And sometimes both answers can be right because people—and dogs—are complicated enough to be more than one character. But we’re not finished yet. Coming Next: Part D — The Cates Family

We’ve met the individual members of our Hundred Acre Wood. Now comes the big question: What if the Cates family were Winnie the Pooh characters together? Not David. Not Glenda. Not Charlie. Not Suzanne. Not Gerald, Debbie, or Renee. Not Bear Bear, Phoebe, Sandy, or Gunner. All of us.

What would the Cates family look like if we lived together in the Hundred Acre Wood? That’s what we’re going to ask ChatGPT next. And then, as always, I’ll tell you what I think. And you get to tell us what you think, too.
