Walmart Chocolate Bundt Cake: A Little Over a Dollar and So Many Ways to Enjoy It

Even though I don’t need a snack with trying to lose weight sometimes its easier to have one than to get up and go downstairs to make lunch when I can keep small cup cakes and bread in our Breakfast Nook. Coffee Bar Area.

One of the snacks I like to pick up is Walmart Chocolate Bundt Cake which cost a little over a dollar for a snack I can eat while working. Or David can take to work with him. Because sometimes I just need a snack and there is so many ways to eat this little Bundt Cake.

That was where I was this morning when I reached for the chocolate Bundt cake which is the chocolate version of the little lemon Bundt cake I shared. I have the exact price from my receipt, so I’ll include that below.

This is a small chocolate Bundt cake that comes in its own container. It has chocolate icing drizzled over the top, along with little chocolate chips. The nutrition information is printed on the bottom of the container, although I have to admit that I can’t read all of that tiny print.

What I can tell you is what happened when I ate it. This cake is very moist. Actually, it’s so moist that it falls apart pretty easily when you cut into it. That’s not necessarily a bad thing to me because I would much rather have a moist cake than a dry one.

But you are going to need a napkin because this isn’t one of those perfectly neat little cakes. The chocolate flavor is more of a milk chocolate than a dark chocolate. Charlie and I prefer because we don’t care for dark chocolate which my sister prefers. David tasted it too and liked it.

And that chocolate icing? That’s probably my favorite part. There is something about the chocolate drizzle and those little chocolate chips on top that makes this feel like more than just an inexpensive little snack.

It actually reminds me a little bit of a Hostess Twinkie, except instead of the white cream filling in the middle, you’ve got a soft chocolate Bundt cake with chocolate on top. And I love it. It also reminds me of a Chocolate Lave Cake you get at restaurants that can cost a arm and leg which this one doesn’t do.

Since I had already tried the Walmart lemon Bundt cake, naturally I had to decide which one I would choose. For me, I think the chocolate wins. That doesn’t mean the lemon isn’t good. It is.

But if you put both of them in front of me and told me I could only have one, I’m reaching for the chocolate. Maybe that’s because sometimes you just need chocolate. Or at least I do more times than I can count.

One of the things I really like about these little Bundt cakes is that you don’t have to eat the whole thing at once. You could cut it into four pieces and have a little treat for yourself over a couple of days. Or you could cut it into six smaller pieces if you wanted to share it.

And that got me thinking. What if instead of serving this as one little cake, you cut it into bite-sized pieces and put it on a small tray? Suddenly, that little cake that cost just a little over a dollar becomes part of a pretty little snack display.

Add some fruit, a few cookies, some other inexpensive treats, and a cup of tea or coffee, and you’ve got something you could put out when friends or family come over. Nobody has to know that your centerpiece started out as a little Walmart cake.

I started thinking about taking one along to the park or on an outing. And then I remembered something important. This cake is messy. It falls apart. So could I eat it in the car? Yes.

Would I probably be a chocolate-covered mess by the time I got where I was going? Probably. But honestly, I would still do it. Which is why those fast food napkins I like to keep in the car comes in handy.

That’s the fun part of trying these inexpensive snacks. I find myself thinking out loud about how I would actually use them. Sometimes I think of the perfect idea, and then I remember the reality of eating the food.

So yes, I would take this to the park. I would just bring napkins. Lots of napkins. I just wouldn’t go when its 100 degree outside because the chocolate would melt before I was able to finish the cake.

I can definitely see this being a back-to-school snack which is why you will find it inside our Back-to-School Gift Guide. You could pick one up while you’re doing your regular Walmart shopping and have it waiting for an afternoon treat. You could cut it into smaller pieces and share it with the kids.

And if you’re putting together a back-to-school snack tray, these little pieces of chocolate cake would be perfect mixed in with other inexpensive treats. It doesn’t have to be expensive to make something feel special.

My family is still enjoying those last little pieces of summer, too. I could see cutting this cake into small pieces and taking it to the park for an end-of-summer celebration. Put the pieces on a little tray, add some fruit or other snacks, and you’ve got a simple dessert everyone can share.

It would be a fun way to celebrate summer before everyone gets back into the school routine. Which is why you will find this Chocolate Lave Bundt Cake inside our Summer Gift Guide.

Then I started thinking about teachers. A little chocolate cake could easily become part of a simple teacher appreciation gift. Pair it with a cute cup, some coffee or tea, or another little treat, and you’ve got an inexpensive thank-you gift for those teaching our children.

If your PTO is hosting a teacher dinner or appreciation event, you could buy several of these, cut them into bite-sized pieces, and arrange them on trays. Instead of putting an entire cake in front of everyone, you’ve got little chocolate cake bites that people can grab and enjoy.

And this idea isn’t limited to schools. Companies could do the same thing for employee appreciation days, office celebrations, or a simple thank-you event. I could see my Apartment hosting a open house and serving these.

And then my mind went to Halloween. Why do we always have to hand out candy? You could cut chocolate cake into little bite-sized pieces and make a fun Halloween dessert tray for a party or gathering.

I’m not saying you should replace Halloween candy completely. I’m just saying that if you’re having a Halloween get-together, nobody is going to complain about having chocolate cake available.

You could even use these during the Christmas season. Obviously, you’re not going to put a fresh cake in a stocking weeks before Christmas and leave it there. But you could use the cake as part of a Christmas treat basket, dessert tray, or little holiday food gift.

Put together a few inexpensive treats with coffee, hot chocolate, or tea, and you’ve got a simple gift without spending a lot of money. That’s what I like about finding these inexpensive Walmart snacks.

I’m not just looking at them and asking, “Is this good?” I’m asking, “What could I actually do with this?” And this little chocolate Bundt cake gave me quite a few answers. I can’t wait to put into action.

For a little over a dollar, I think this is a fun little chocolate snack. It’s moist. It’s soft. It has chocolate chips on top. It has that chocolate drizzle icing that I really like. It’s more milk chocolate than dark chocolate, Charlie and Iove. David liked it too.

It’s messy and it falls apart, but sometimes that’s part of the fun. You can eat it right out of the container like I did, warm it up and have it with milk, enjoy it with a cup of tea, cut it into several smaller pieces, or turn those pieces into a pretty little snack tray.

And if I had to choose between the Walmart lemon Bundt cake and the chocolate? I’m choosing chocolate. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I think I need another piece. Just don’t ask me to eat it in the car without a napkin.

Grateful, Thankful, and Blessed

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
