What Color Would I Be?

Yesterday, we had fun with a question I saw on Facebook asking what color would I be but I had ChatGPT pick out what flower would we be for my family.

This morning I decided to ask ChatGPT what color they thought my family would be and like with the flowers they choose for everyone more times than not the color they choose was spot on.

Join me on my journey of What Color Would I Be as I go through the answers with my family and share our thoughts with you. Then come and share what color they picked for you and why.

Remember when I asked the question I wasn’t necessarily asking our favorite color. I also wasn’t asking about the color we wear the most but what color fits us the best and why they choose it.

The answers were chosen by looking at our personality, our memories, our quirks, and the little things that make us who we are… Before I share with you what they picked for my family what color would you say we are? Why?

And just like with the flower question, some of these answers made perfect sense and some of the answers made me laugh and some made me stop and think about the people and memories connected to those colors. So here we go.

For me they said I was a lavender color and being purple is my favorite color this made sense. And honestly, I think that is a pretty good choice for the little bit they know about me..

I’ve always been drawn to purple, and lavender gives me that softer side of purple that feels sentimental and peaceful. Lavender makes me think of flowers and I love gardening and Lavender is one plant I always plant, lavender is full of family memories, faith, and those little pieces of life that I tend to hold onto.

It also fits especially well right now because my word for this season of my life is Bloom. So maybe lavender was exactly the color I was supposed to be. And, of course, I love pink and blue, too. As you will soon discover, those colors show up quite a bit in this family.

Charlie is pink. That one doesn’t surprise me at all. Charlie loves pink just like his sister Suzzane did and even I love pink. He also loves purple, so apparently he and I have some pretty similar color preferences.

And if you know me you know pink immediately makes me think of Suzanne. There was a time when it seemed like Suzanne wanted everything to be pink. Just like when Charlie was little and only wanted red until he became a teenager and switched his favorite color which happens at time.

So when Charlie came out as pink, it felt like one of those little family connections that makes you smile. Pink can be soft, but it can also be strong. Which is Charlie. It can be sweet without being fragile. Again Charlie. And somehow, pink just feels right for Charlie. Doesn’t it?

David is blue. And this one is easy because blue is actually David’s favorite color. Charlie, Suzzane and I love blue, too. So we have a little blue running through our family. But blue also fits David beyond simply being his favorite color.

Blue feels steady. Which David is. Dependable and calm which also fits David.. Blue makes me think of someone who gets up, goes to work, does what needs to be done, and keeps moving forward. Just like David and my dad. So yes. David is blue. And I think he’d agree with that one.

Gerald is deep green. And this one really made me smile because green is my sister’s favorite color. So even though the color was chosen for Gerald, it immediately made me think of her.

Deep green feels like roots. Trees. Family history. The things that remain even as life changes. It feels like a color with a story behind it. And considering the people and memories connected to Gerald, I think deep green is a beautiful choice and I do to.

Renee is purple. Now, this one made me laugh because Renee thought she would be red. Apparently, she and ChatGPT had different opinions! But I’m perfectly happy with purple. After all, I love purple.

Purple feels creative a little unexpected and a little different. It doesn’t have to be the loudest color in the room to get noticed. And I think there is something about that which fits Renee. Although I’m pretty sure she may still be campaigning for red. I believe purple fits here. What do you think?

And then there is Debbie. Debbie is my sister and she has been part of my blog since the very beginning. She has been there from the get-go, which means she is woven into the history of what I’ve been doing for a very long time.

Her favorite color is green, so green was an obvious place to start. But I don’t think Debbie is just any shade of green. I think she is forest green. She can be quiet. She isn’t necessarily the person who has to be the center of attention. But don’t mistake quiet for weak. Because Debbie can be hell on wheels when she wants to be!

She works two jobs. She’s been a single mom. She’s strong. She’s independent. And she’s the kind of woman who has learned how to keep going. Forest green feels right because it is calm and grounded, but there is strength underneath it. And maybe that’s Debbie. Quiet on the surface. Strong underneath. And absolutely capable of surprising you.

Phoebe is coral pink. And once again, we are back to pink. That made me smile because of all the pink connections in our family. Suzanne loved pink. Charlie loves pink. I love pink and even though David hates to admit it he likes pink to. As I remind him all the time real men where pink.

So it feels perfectly natural that Phoebe would land somewhere in the pink family, too. But Phoebe isn’t just soft pink. She’s coral pink. Coral has warmth. It has energy. It has personality and just like my Sandi she does have a personality and I think that fits her because it’s pink with a little more sunshine in it.

Then there is Sandy. Charlie’s new rescue puppy who is Sunshine yellow. This one might have made me smile the biggest. Because Suzanne was absolutely beautiful in yellow. The funny part is, she would hardly ever wear yellow. She could put it on and look gorgeous, but she just didn’t want to wear i because she didn’t like yellow. Which always surprised me since it was the color of the Sun and she loved Sunshine.

When Sandy was given sunshine yellow, I immediately thought about Suzanne. I think Suzanne would get a kick out of knowing that. Especially because she had the original Sandy in heaven. And now we have our Sandy here with us.

Although Charlie has apparently decided that Sandy’s name is now Saucer. Don’t ask me if Saucer matches sunshine yellow. I’m still thinking about that one. I may need a little more time.

But Sandy does remind me of a sunshine yellow? Absolutely. And somehow, it feels like one of those little things that connects the past and present in a way that makes your heart smile. Doesn’t it?

Bear is Charlie’s emotional support dog a Chi-Weenie who is a warm brown and this one couldn’t possibly be more perfect because Bear is actually a little brown Chihuahua. So when I heard warm brown, I thought: “Well, that’s easy!”

Warm brown feels comfortable. Familiar. Loyal. Like an old favorite blanket or a comfortable chair. And that feels like Bear. Sometimes the color doesn’t need a complicated explanation. Sometimes you just look at the dog and say: Yep. That’s it.

Gunner is the foster Dog we watch and he is yellow orange This color matches as well because he is kind of a goldish-yellow, wannabe-colored dog anyway, so orange isn’t too far off. Orange has energy. Orange gets noticed. Orange has personality.

And if you’ve ever spent time around Gunner, you probably understand why that makes sense. Gunner isn’t exactly a background character. He’s got personality. So orange it is and I wouldn’t change it

When I put all of these colors together, I actually love the picture they create a family made of colors. Including Lavender. Pink. Blue. Deep green. Purple. Forest green. Coral pink. Sunshine yellow. Warm brown. Orange.

And hidden inside all those colors are memories. Suzanne’s pink. Charlie’s pink and purple. David’s blue. My lavender and purple. My sister’s love of deep green. Debbie’s strength in forest green.

Phoebe’s coral pink. Sandy’s sunshine yellow. Bear’s warm brown. Gunner’s orange. And maybe that’s what makes a family so beautiful. We’re not all the same. We don’t all have the same favorite color. We don’t have the same personalities. We don’t even have the same number of legs!

But somehow, when you put all of those different colors together, they create something that belongs only to us. A family picture made out of memories, personalities, laughter, love, and a whole lot of different shades.

And just like our What Flower Would I Be? post, I think this is one of those questions that is more fun when you don’t take it too seriously. Because sometimes a silly little question can remind you of something important. The people we love each have their own color. And together? We’re a pretty beautiful rainbow.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
