Day 2: Expectations Have Entered the Chat

Today is Day 2 of the countdown from our series for Mother’s Day about Mom’s and Grandma’s. Dear Family… the expectations have officially entered the chat. Grab your favorite beverage and join me on the porch for this morning’s post.

At this point in the week, a few things are becoming very clear:

  • The laundry is still magically multiplying itself faster than I can count
  • Someone is still asking “where is it?” without looking first will it ever stop?
  • And I am still the default manager of absolutely everything even though I’ve resigned

This series, Dear Family, I Need a Break (And So Does Grandma), is a 7-day countdown to Mother’s Day—a reminder that moms don’t just “do a lot”… we quietly hold everything together while everyone else assumes it just happens.

Let’s be honest: I am not the household assistant, personal chef, emotional support coordinator, and family GPS all rolled into one. Although everyone in my home and even David’s mom’s home thinks I am and I’m tried. How about you?

So today’s reminder is simple:

If you’re wondering what to do for Mother’s Day… start by noticing what she already does every day without being asked.

Because the bar isn’t high. It’s just usually invisible.

See you tomorrow for Day 3.
